We do not provide these statistics to scare you, only to provide information regarding the dangers facing young drivers

By age group in 2006, Florida drivers:

Age 15 were involved in 772 crashes, resulting in 7 fatalities
Age 16 were involved in 5,367 crashes, resulting in 17 fatalities
Age 17 were involved in 8,616 crashes, resulting in 32 fatalities
Aage 18 were involved in 12,181 crashes, resulting in 65 fatalities
Age 19 were involved in 11,889 crashes, resulting in 70 fatalities

  • Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for 15-34 year olds

  • For every soldier killed in Iraq, 10 teens aged 15-19 will die on our highways

  • Teen drivers are responsible for 20% of all fatal crashes

  • The average teen spends more time loading music into their MP3 player than practicing driving
