FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How quickly can my teen complete the SAFE DRIVING FOR A LIFETIME package?
We recommend spending 3-4 weeks learning the material in How To Drive, and working with the DriverZED CD. Teens will also need to have at least 10 hours of driving time before attending the 2-day driving session.  Some teens will work faster, and some slower. This is your personal choice, and what fits your schedule best. The 50 hours of supervised driving requirement will be the parent’s responsibility during the year their teen has their learner’s permit.

What about the Drug/Alcohol test, Permit test, driver’s license test?
The Drug/Alcohol test and permit test are available online through AAA on their website http://www.aaasouth.com/teens.asp . At this time we are not issuing waivers for the driver’s license test. You will need to contact the nearest examiner’s office to schedule your test when you feel you are ready.

How is this program different from Driver’s Education offered in high school? This course is completed at your own pace, in your home. It doesn’t take the place of an elective or honors course. It can be completed more quickly than driver’s education and does not have a long waiting list. The curriculum is State approved and all of our instructors are highly qualified, state certified Law Enforcement or Driver’s Education instructors. Young drivers learn skills that cannot be taught safely on the road with their parents.

My teen only has a learner’s permit, can they attend your school?
Yes, the minimum requirement is a learner’s permit with 10 hours behind the wheel experience by the time they attend the 2-day driving experience.
